4K @ 60 fps PCIe remote CMOS sensor hardware

Sensor control, image processing, and acquisition PCIe board (CV-42):

The CV-420 is a 4K remote camera head system composed of the CV-42 PCI host interface board and a CV-40X imaging module. The CV-420 is designed to capture 9.03M pixels (4096×2160) at 60 frames per second in various 10-bit-digital output formats including 4:2:2 and RAW.

With the optional c-mount or cs-mount enclosure the camera head has a diameter of only 36mm and a length of 27mm making it one of the smallest 4Kp60 standard lens mount camera heads on the market.

The remote CV-40X imaging module camera head can be placed at a significant distance from the CV-42 PCIe host interface. Using Belden high-flex 1505F cable the remote head can be placed up to 20m away from the PCIe interface.

With the optional c-mount or cs-mount enclosures and a long high-flex cable, an imaging head that uses standard lenses can be placed is difficult spots other c-mount or cs-mount cameras would get in the way.

The CV-42 features a four lane PCIe Gen2 host interface for video capture and frame grabbing purposes. This provides enough bandwidth for capturing 4K/10-bit/4:2:2/60fps video from the camera with a latency as low as 64 video lines.

HDMI and SDI monitor outputs are provided on the CV-42. The HDMI and SDI outputs can be used simultaneously. The SDI outputs are all 12G compliant allowing for the connection of a single 4K SDI monitor via 4 x 3G-SDI, 2 x 6G-SDI or 1 x 12G-SDI outputs. Up to four 4K SDI monitors could also be used by connecting each monitor to one of the 12G-SDI outputs. The HDMI 2.0 output can automatically downgrade to HDMI 1.4 if the monitor is not capable of HDMI 2.0.

If video capture to a PCIe host is not required and only HDMI or SDI monitor capabilities are needed, the CV-42 can be operated as a stand-alone device. Power and control are provided by on board connectors. Control and parameter settings are via USB 2.0 or UART in this mode.

Tri-level high definition genlock signaling is supported by the CV-420 for frame level synchronization to a genlock master. This master can be another CV-420 or a third-party device.

The CV-420 system features a simple-to-use API which allows the configuration of the settings for auto/manual exposure, sensor gain, cross and diagonal binning, sharpness enhancement, white balance, hue, brightness, saturation, contrast, and more. See the specifications for the full list.

In addition to the API included with the SDK there are several examples for ffmpeg, Video4Linux2 and DirectShow to streamline product development and integration into existing applications.

Simultaneous monitoring and recording with high image quality is possible due to the ability to output two 4K signals simultaneously using HDMI, 12G-SDI, 2x6G-SDI, 4x3G-SDI and to capture over the PCIe Gen2 x4 a full 4.2.2 10 bits 4Kp60
