The LT-324 is a combo HDMI 2.0 and 12G-SDI 4K/UHD video capture and frame grabber board for PCI express based desktop and embedded systems. It is primarily designed for video recording, image capture, and video streaming applications where robustness, reliability and long-term availability are critical. The LT324 is typically used in high-performance medical, laboratory, industrial, and aerospace systems.

Capable of acquiring raw uncompressed video signals with resolutions and frame rates up to 4K (4096 x 2160) at 60 frames per second with zero frame drops under all normal operating conditions. The LT324 achieves this through smart hardware frame buffering, high bandwidth processing and a four lane PCI express Gen.2 bus.

All standard HD, UHD and 4K video formats are supported from 720p to 4K DCI. Optionally, non-standard and special resolutions can be supported as well.

The LT-324 features a standard HDMI input as well as four BNCs for SDI. Two of the SDI inputs are compatible HD/3G/6G/12G SMPTE formats while the other two are compatible with HD/3G SMPTE. For UHD/4K at 50 or 60 frames per second either 4 x 3G-SDI, 2 x 6G-SDI, or 1 x 12G-SDI can be used.

There is also a multi-channel SDI/HDMI acquisition mode where up to four different video signals can be captured simultaneously. In this mode the signals are limited to 1080p60 or below. Each of the inputs can be of the same format or have different resolutions and frame rates.

As an option, an onboard low latency FHD H.264 1080p30 encoder is available. This encoder, based on Enciris’ renowned technology, can compress any of the available video sources to a standard H.264 stream. When the input resolution/frame rate is higher than the capabilities of the encoder the LT-324 will automatically downscale or frame rate decimate to 1080p30. The compressed stream is simultaneously available with the standard captured uncompressed video over the PCIe bus.

An extensive set of software tools are available to assist in the evaluation, use, and customer integration of the LT-324 support. An easy-to-use API along with numerous examples with source code are provided. Support for DirectShow, ffmeg, Video4Linux, .NET, c++, c#, Python, etc., simplify product development and integration into existing applications.

Add-on cards will be made available for the LT324 to give extra functionality such as video loop-through, loop-through with alpha blended overlay, or SDI/HDMI monitoring. These would be board that are connect to the LT324 via a flat high-speed cable.

Video Processing Diagram

The LT-324 is comprised of several functional elements as shown in the diagram above, the video multiplexing and video acquisition blocks are the responsables of detecting the type of video input (single/dual/quad link, resolution, frame rate …) and of sending this information together with the video data to the acquisition buffer.

From there the video data can be send directly to the Host PC through the PCIe Bus Interface or additional video processing such a hardware deinterlacing, color adjustments, video scaling can be done before transmiting to the Host PC
